For companies like Foxconn, which employs hundreds of thousands of workers in its manufacturing operations, the pace of software improvement will determine how quickly humanoid robots can take on meaningful portions of production work. Current deployments appear to function more as pilots and development platforms than as full production replacements for human labor.
Unitree's IPO, if completed at the reported $50 billion valuation, would make it one of the most valuable robotics companies in the world and would provide capital to accelerate both hardware and software development.
