Platform overview
cueball is an AI learning platform designed to take you from zero to job-ready in artificial intelligence and machine learning. It combines structured video courses, interactive labs, and community features into a single cohesive experience.
The platform is organised around three main content types:
- Courses — video-based lessons with quizzes, grouped into modules. Courses range from 1 to 10+ hours.
- Learning Paths — curated sequences of multiple courses that build on each other, with a path-level certificate on completion.
- Labs — hands-on scenario exercises where you apply what you've learned using real AI tools, evaluated automatically.

- Enter your email address and choose a password, or continue with Google.
- Check your inbox and click the verification link.
- Complete your profile — add a display name and optionally your job role.
- Pick a learning path or browse the course catalogue to get started.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.
Dashboard layout
After logging in you land on the dashboard. The main navigation has the following sections:
- Learn — your enrolled courses and learning paths, with continue-where-you-left-off cards.
- Courses — the full course catalogue, filterable by topic, difficulty, and duration.
- Practice — standalone labs you can attempt at any time.
- Workshops — advanced Pro+ sessions covering specialist topics.
- Pricing — plan details and upgrade options.
The top-right corner shows your current streak, XP, and remaining monthly learning time (for Free and Pro users). Your profile picture opens account settings and sign-out.
Your first lesson
- From the dashboard, click any course card or go to Courses.
- Click Start course on any free or accessible course.
- Lessons are video-based. Use the sidebar to navigate between lessons.
- At the end of each lesson there may be a short quiz. Answer all questions to mark the lesson complete.
- Your progress is saved automatically — you can leave and return at any time.
Browsing courses
Go to the Courses page to see all available content. You can filter by:
- Difficulty — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
- Topic — Prompt Engineering, AI Automation, Knowledge Bases, AI Safety, AI for Business, and more.
- Duration — short (<1 hr), medium (1–3 hrs), or long (>3 hrs).
- Access tier — Free, Pro, or Pro+.
Courses locked behind a higher tier show a padlock icon. You can preview the curriculum and the first lesson of any course, regardless of your plan.
What is a learning path?
A learning path is a hand-curated sequence of courses designed to build skills progressively. Completing every course in a path earns you a path-level certificate in addition to the individual course certificates.
Paths are available on the Learn page under the Paths tab. Clicking a path card shows its full curriculum and your completion percentage.
AI Fundamentals path
The AI Fundamentals path is the recommended starting point for anyone new to AI. It covers:
- What AI and machine learning are and how they work.
- How AI actually works — the technology behind ChatGPT and Claude, explained plainly.
- Prompt engineering fundamentals.
- AI tools for everyday work (writing, analysis, coding).
- Responsible AI use and understanding limitations.
Expected duration: approximately 8–12 hours. Available to Free and Pro users.
AI Power User path
The AI Power User path is for ambitious learners who want to go beyond everyday prompting — automating workflows, building personal AI tools, and customising AI for their specific needs. No coding required. It covers:
- Master-level prompting: power-user techniques that get better results.
- Making AI work with your own files and documents.
- Building AI workflows and personal AI assistants without code.
- Teaching AI to sound like you and match your brand.
- Leading AI projects from idea to launch.
Expected duration: approximately 20–30 hours. Requires a Pro+ subscription.
Tracking your progress
Your overall learning progress is visible on the dashboard. For each course you can see:
- Number of lessons completed out of total lessons.
- Quiz scores.
- Estimated time remaining.
- Whether a certificate has been issued.
Your profile page (Profile → Certificates) shows all certificates earned, with download and share links.
How labs work
Labs are scenario-based exercises that put you in a realistic situation and ask you to solve a problem using AI. Unlike courses, labs have no video component — they are entirely hands-on.
Each lab includes:
- A scenario description explaining the context and your objective.
- One or more tasks with specific success criteria.
- A submission area where you enter your answer or paste your prompt/output.
- Automated evaluation that marks each task as pass or fail.
Lab answers are evaluated automatically. The evaluator checks for correctness, not just format — so read the success criteria carefully before submitting.
Completing a lab
- Go to Practice and choose a lab.
- Read the scenario and objectives carefully.
- Work through each task. You can use any external tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, your own code) unless the lab specifies otherwise.
- Paste your answer or output into the submission box and click Submit.
- Results are shown immediately. A green tick means you passed; a red cross means try again.
- Once all tasks are passed, the lab is marked complete and you earn XP.
Scoring & retries
Labs use pass/fail scoring per task rather than a percentage grade. You can retry any task as many times as you like — there is no penalty for wrong attempts. XP is awarded once per lab completion (not per attempt).
Some labs have hints available. Clicking a hint reveals a pointer without giving away the full answer and does not affect your score.
Daily streaks
A streak counts the number of consecutive days on which you have completed at least one lesson or lab. The current streak count is shown in the top navigation bar.
Your streak resets at midnight in your local timezone if you have not completed any learning activity that day. Streaks of 7, 30, 100, and 365 days unlock special badges.
Streak freeze tokens
Streak freeze tokens protect your streak when you miss a day. If you have at least one token, it is automatically spent on your first missed day, keeping your streak alive.
You earn freeze tokens by:
- Reaching a 7-day streak (1 token).
- Reaching every subsequent 7-day milestone (1 token per milestone, up to a maximum of 3 stored).
Tokens do not stack beyond the maximum of 3. The current token count is shown in the navigation bar (ice crystal icon) and on your profile page.
Tokens are spent automatically — you do not need to take any action. If you have 0 tokens and miss a day, your streak resets to 0.
XP and levels
XP (experience points) are earned by completing lessons, labs, and quizzes. Harder content awards more XP. Your total XP determines your level, which is displayed on your profile and leaderboard entry.
- Completing a lesson: 10–30 XP (based on estimated duration).
- Passing a quiz: 15 XP.
- Completing a lab: 25–50 XP (based on difficulty).
- Completing a course: bonus 100 XP.
- Completing a learning path: bonus 300 XP.
Badges
Badges are awarded for milestones and special achievements. They appear on your profile page. Examples include:
- 7-Day Streak — maintain a streak for 7 consecutive days.
- First Lab — complete your first lab.
- Course Graduate — complete your first course.
- Path Complete — finish an entire learning path.
- Top 10 — reach the top 10 on the leaderboard.
Certificates
A certificate is issued automatically when you complete 100% of a course or learning path. Certificates include:
- Your name (as set in your profile).
- The course or path title.
- The date of completion.
- A unique verification ID and QR code that can be scanned to confirm authenticity.
Certificates are available as downloadable PDFs from your profile page (Profile → Certificates). You can also share a certificate link directly, which opens a public verification page — useful for adding to a LinkedIn profile or CV.
Certificates do not expire. Once issued, they are yours permanently regardless of any future changes to your subscription.
Leaderboard
The community leaderboard ranks all users by total XP. It resets monthly. Your rank and XP are visible to other users. You can opt out of the leaderboard from your profile settings if you prefer to keep your progress private.
